Northrop Grumman Demonstrates Advanced Technology at EDGE 24

At the U.S. Army’s EDGE 24 event, Northrop Grumman Corporation unveiled a groundbreaking demonstration of end-to-end crewed-uncrewed teaming, aimed at enhancing the survivability of rotary wing aircraft. This integrated solution featured the Helix Mission Autonomy payload, the APR-39E(V)2 digital warning receiver, and the SAINT (Survivability Against Integrated and Networked Threats) system, all working in unison to detect, identify, and counter simulated threats. The system also provided precise rerouting recommendations to the aircraft through its innovative OpenLift modular architecture.

As the military increasingly incorporates uncrewed platforms into a variety of missions, Northrop Grumman’s advanced systems will enable the Army to maximize the potential of these technologies, enhancing operational effectiveness across the board.

The Future Vertical Lift (FVL) initiative is set to revolutionize the Army Aviation fleet, equipping it with faster, more lethal, and more survivable aircraft for a range of missions, including transport, logistics, strike, and reconnaissance. These vertical lift aircraft are not only vital combat multipliers but also crucial lifelines in challenging environments.

The FVL program encompasses several key projects, including the Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) and Future Tactical Unmanned Aircraft Systems (FTUAS) for the Army, as well as the Attack Utility Replacement Aircraft (AURA) for the Marine Corps. These new aircraft will complement the existing fleet, requiring a fully integrated, open, safe, and secure architecture. This framework will allow for true multi-functionality of current capabilities while ensuring the agility to rapidly adapt FVL’s mission and survivability systems to stay ahead of evolving threats.

With these advancements, Northrop Grumman is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Army Aviation, enhancing both operational readiness and battlefield effectiveness.
