ideaForge Technology Limited, a global leader in drone technology, played a critical role in the safe capture and relocation of a leopard spotted earlier this week on the ICRISAT campus. The operation, carried out in collaboration with the Telangana Forest Department, highlights the pivotal role of advanced UAV technology in ensuring campus safety and managing wildlife-related incidents.
The situation began when ICRISAT’s security team, led by Major Divya Praneeth, observed unusual animal movements on campus and immediately sought UAV surveillance support from ideaForge. In response, the ideaForge team quickly deployed its Q4i and Q6v2 UAVs, equipped with thermal payloads, to track and monitor the leopard’s movements. On the first day, the UAVs successfully identified the animal’s movements, and the next day, confirmed its resting location. This real-time data enabled the Telangana Forest Department to act swiftly, leading to the safe capture and relocation of the animal.
This marks the first instance of ICRISAT using UAVs for campus surveillance. Following the successful operation, ICRISAT is now moving forward with the procurement of a Q4i UAV to enhance future surveillance capabilities. Given the 100+ acres of land under its management, ICRISAT frequently encounters wildlife sightings, including rabbits, wild boars, and peacocks, and is taking proactive measures to bolster its wildlife management efforts.
Beyond campus surveillance, ideaForge’s UAVs have demonstrated their value in broader environmental operations.
