The Su-57, Russia’s fifth-generation stealth fighter, will make its highly anticipated debut at Aero India 2025. Its advanced capabilities, including supersonic cruising and cutting-edge avionics, will be on full display.
Developed by Sukhoi, the Su-57 is a fifth-generation fighter that promises to bring cutting-edge technology to India’s defence landscape, offering a glimpse into the future of air combat. The Su-57’s participation in Aero India is poised to influence India’s defence procurement decisions, especially as the Indian Air Force (IAF) evaluates its options for next-generation fighters.
The Sukhoi Su-57 is a fifth-generation multirole fighter designed to engage air, ground and naval targets. The Su-57 features stealth technology with extensive use of composite materials, can achieve supersonic cruising speeds and is equipped with cutting-edge onboard electronic systems, including a powerful onboard computer (the so-called electronic second pilot), a radar system spread across its body and other innovations, in particular, armament placed inside its fuselage.
Test Pilot and Hero of Russia, Sergey Bogdan, will lead the demonstration flights. Bogdan’s career began after graduating from the Yeysk Higher Military Aviation School in 1988, and he has tested numerous aircraft at the Gromov Flight Research Institute, including the MiG-29, Su-30, and Su-35. He was also one of the first pilots to fly the Su-57’s predecessor, the T-50. In 2017, Bogdan was awarded the title “Hero of Russia” for his work in testing and developing new aircraft systems. He has also showcased Russian aviation internationally, including at the Zhuhai Airshow 2024 in China, where he piloted the Su-57E.
