The Board of Directors of Indra Group accepted the resignation of Marc Murtra as Director and Executive Chairman, following his recent appointment as Director and Executive Chairman of Telefónica, S.A.
Murtra, who has significantly contributed to the transformation and growth of Indra Group, also resigned from his roles as Chairman of both the Executive Committee and the Strategy Committee. The Board expressed deep appreciation for Murtra’s dedication and leadership, highlighting his instrumental role in driving Indra’s ongoing transformation and positioning the company for future success.
To ensure a smooth leadership transition, the Board adopted several key resolutions:
- Ángel Escribano Ruiz has been appointed as a director of Indra, following the approval of the Appointment and Corporate Governance Committee, utilizing the co-optation procedure.
- To ensure continuity in leadership, Escribano has been appointed as Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors. In his new role, he will take on the same executive functions that Murtra previously held, focusing on corporate and institutional matters while coordinating with José Vicente de los Mozos, the Chief Executive Officer, on operational and business guidance.
- The Board also approved Escribano’s executive services contract, maintaining the same remuneration terms as Murtra’s contract. The appointment includes sufficient powers to execute the responsibilities tied to his new role.
The resolution marks a crucial step in continuing the implementation of Indra’s Strategic Plan 2024-2026, and the decisions have received support from the company’s major shareholders.
Ángel Escribano, the founder of Mecanizados Escribano (now EM&E Group), brings decades of experience and leadership to his new role. Co-founding the company in 1989 with his father and brother Javier, Escribano played a pivotal role in evolving the company from a mechanical parts manufacturer to a leader in designing and developing complex defense systems, including remote-control weapon stations, electro-optical systems, and guided ammunition kits.
Escribano’s extensive background spans all operational areas of his company, with hands-on experience in CNC machine operation, commercial management, operations planning, and quality management. He also serves on the boards of TESS DEFENCE and SMS.
As Indra Group enters this new phase under Escribano’s leadership, the company is poised to continue its transformative journey while strengthening its position in the global defense and technology sectors.
