Flying Wedge Defence & Aerospace Secures UAS Certification

Flying Wedge Defence and Aerospace, an Indian defence and aerospace technology company, bags type certification for the airworthiness of unmanned aircraft systems from Directorate General of Civil Aviation. The latest certification has been awarded for the FWDA10-V1, a medium-class rotorcraft (Hexa-copter).

Serving Kisans, FWDA10-V1 is specifically designed for agrochemical spraying for agricultural purposes, providing farmers with an efficient and cost-effective solution for crop management and protection. Manufactured by Flying Wedge Defence, the UAS is a medium-class rotorcraft (Hexa-copter) equipped with a spray system capable of holding a maximum 10.5-liter tank for agrochemical spraying. With a maximum all-up weight of 28.2 kg, the rotorcraft is designed to meet the demanding requirements of aerial agricultural applications.

Key technical specifications of the FWDA10-V1 include: 

Power source BLDC Motor with a power rating of 1684 watts, powered by a 30000.0 mAh battery capacity
Propeller details Diameter – 23 inches, Pitch – 8, Max RPM – 550
Equipment details GNSS, Autonomous Flight Termination System or Return Home, Geo-fencing Capability, Detect and Avoid Capability, among others
Performance details Maximum Endurance of 13.30 minutes, Maximum Range of 1.5 km, Maximum Speed of 6.0 m/sec, and Maximum Height attainable of 180.0 ft.
